In his explanations of special relativity, Einstein often compared the new theory's predictions to older predictions that were obviously inferior. His narratives often started by presenting an outdated "classical" view, comparing it to the SR view, comparing the two, and showing that the SR version was far superior.
Einstein's expositional methodwas a great way of puttting forward his arguments for special rleativitybut were not always exactly fair comparisons.
